[…] CSS Off kicked off yesterday and finished today at noon. It was fun to build and pretty straightforward. […]
I submitted my ZIP file yesterday, before the deadline. I hadn’t seen the “Jabroni in the subject line” bit, so if you’re checking a specific filtered Gmail folder, please look in your main Gmail inbox as well. Thanks.
Did it before you! ;) Here’s my work: http://niebolaz.awardspace.com/jabroni/
(Sh*t! I screwed one h1 :S)
@Charlie Park:
We got your entry. A couple of people missed that instruction about the subject line when submitting, but that’s more our fault. That line was just to assist our inbox filters.
@Yarek and others:
As an fyi, we’ll be uploading all entries for viewing and comparison once the judging and corresponding post is complete. (hard to estimate — gimme a week)
Merde, I guess I’m late. I only had a few hours to work on it because I had to be a referee in the morning :(
Ah well, it had some big mistakes in it anyway. At least now I have something to use in my portfolio ;)
I don’t know if I fixed the updates here, but I put a version of my work online: http://101733.leerling.lekenlinge.nl/cssoff/
Good, I was hoping to get to see everyone else’s entries.
My work is here: http://grizzly3.ovh.org/_cssoff. :)

Ok, if You’re all showing, so will I: http://mav.subfan.pl/jabroni/
Project at first glance looked easy but had some tricky parts ;-)
In future I think it’ll be good if you provide better PSD’s so they will not limit our imagination - I mean layer separation - e.g. banner graphics or footer graphics was one merged layer. I would prefered to see it’s content as separate layers.
I know that you have few good entries.. but I wonder is any close to flawless.. ;-)

Here is mine too:

(valid under IE6.0, IE7.0, FX, Opera, Konqueror and Safari :) )
Here’s mine. I should have done what yarek did on the centering, looks really nice.

Did my entry go in? I’m not so sure of TN time but I think I sent it 2/3 hrs before due time….I had to ask a friend from US for the time so…hmmm anyways whether I’m in or not doesn’t matter.
At least I participated and done something and enjoyed myself.
Thanks for making it happen.
Cheers.
[…] I’m one of 53 participants (I hope) of the first round of CSSOff - Jabroni. (too many […]
@Mayvelous - exactly. I was eight minutes late ;)
Though, if I look through your entries, looks like I’m the only one who made a fluid layout. Though I haven’t really tested it in IE, that may be a problem ;)
I also wanted to make a fluid layout but I resigned as it was impossible to do it good with this footer design - in any case it needed some compromise, also time was running and same day I’ve had brother’s wedding :) …so after all I’ve sticked to fixed.

For me the best projects are made by AJGON and Mila76. :)
But AJGON’s project for me looks better :)
Guys, I was wondering how you will judge us. Will you choose 3 best works? It would be cool if made some ranking with points, from 1 to 53 places. Everyone could get some points :)
I’m not sure is it good idea to make full ranking from 1 to 53 places.
I don’t think it’s necessary to point “worst work” as well - we don’t need it and it just wouldn’t be nice - and finally it would be much more work for judges.
The best if they can focus on best works and choose wisely winner from them.
I think choosing a winner with full explanation why and maybe mentioning some works that were nearly as good as best one is enough.
Other thing - I prefer that they take long time on judging and judge well than rush and judge poorly.. :)
@Yarek:
There’s no way we’re going to get to rank all entries. Medyk’s comment is closer to what we’re aiming to do.
Just to catch everybody up on how judging is going, JD and I have tended to spend much time, maybe too much time, in reviewing the browser rendering of each entry, and looking at the differences in interpretations and what liberties were taken. We’re wanting to look under the hood (markup) of each as well, which I’m anticipating that being the hardest part.
We appreciate how patient you’ve been. We know many of you are ready to start the next contest, which JD and I have toyed with some ideas already.
I’m not sure do you use it but I believe that Firebug FF extension can be very helpful to analyze structure and what styles applied to it.
